Amadeus (Peter Shaffer)
1980-xx-xx – Broadway, Broadhurst Theatre, New York City, NY, US
Peter Firth (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), Louis Turenne (Baron van Swieten), Nicholas Kepros (Joseph II, Emperor of Austria), Amy Irving (Constanze Weber), Caris Corfman (Katherina Cavalieri), Paul Harding (Count Johann Kilian Von Strack), Philip Pleasants (Major Domo), Patrick Hines (Count Orsini-Rosenberg), Linda Robbins (Teresa Salieri), Ian McKellen (Antonio Salieri), Russell Gold (Guiseppe Bonno)
Master's Notes: This performance was taped right after Peter Firth replaced Tim Curry and Amy Irving replaced Jane Seymore. I saw both casts and Peter Firth (who also starred in Equus) was as good as Mr. Curry and Amy Irving was much better than Ms. Seymore. The rest of the original cast remained. This is my favorite recording because of the legendary performance of Ian McKellan. He was extraordinary. It remains one of my favorite performances I've ever seen.

The live captioning summarises Norris’ explanation succinctly (“Rufus Norris: We have a problem with the flying stuff!”) to laughs.
